Strategic Goals
The City-wide Strategic Goals articulate goals and objectives that the City of San Fernando will work to achieve over the next five years. The Strategic Goals provide context for budget development and revenue priorities to ensure the City Council, the City Manager, Department Directors, City Commissions and all City employees are working to achieve the City's long-term vision, goals and objectives.
The Strategic Goals are reviewed annually and will be amended by City Council as needed.

Creating a More Sustainable Community
The City of San Fernando is committed to creating a more sustainable community through its ongoing programs, policies, and projects. This commitment has been established in our 2022-2027 Strategic Goal number 4: Strengthen Climate Resilience and Environmental Justice. The City has been proactively working on the following projects and policies to address climate change:
Equity and Environmental Justice
- Commit to measures that prioritize equity, affordability, and environmental justice in a forthcoming Climate Action Plan
- Commit to Indigenous Land Acknowledgement in City activities and events
Energy
- Pursue a solar and battery installation at our Public Works Police Department facilities
Water
- Begin construction of the San Fernando Recreation Park infiltration project (construction anticipated from April 2022 to April 2023)
Mobility
- Begin construction of the Pacoima Wash Bike Path in 2022
- Adoption of the Safe and Active Streets Implementation Plan to promote increased walking and bicycling
- Seek funding opportunities to electrify the Trolley System
Urban Greening and Tree Canopy
- Increase San Fernando'-s tree canopy by planting over 490 trees through the Calles Verdes project
- Develop projects to capture storm water in parking lots and alleys through the Calles Verdes project
Climate Resilience and Adaptation
- Develop resilience strategies based on the countywide Climate Vulnerability Assessment
- Pursue funding for establishing resiliency hubs at key park facilities
