Start Your Business in San Fernando

1. Verify Zoning Compliance

Before signing a lease or opening your business:

  • Confirm that your business activity is allowed at your chosen location.
  • Check zoning regulations with the Community Development Department. Verify Zoning Compliance
  • Make sure the property is properly zoned for your type of business.

This step ensures your business can legally operate at the selected address.

2. Obtain Planning and Building Permits

If you plan to:

  • Remodel or Construct Improvements
  • Change the Use of a Building 
  • Install Signage
  • Make Tenant Improvements

You must obtain the appropriate permits from the Community Development Department and Public Works Department

Permits may include 

  • Planning Approval

  • Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Permits

3. Apply for a Business Licenses 

Business Licenses are handled through an Business License Online Access Portal

Water and Sewer Services
