Residential Parking Program
Improving the overall parking experience for residents and visitors.
Parking in San Fernando
The City of San Fernando offers various parking permits for residents who utilize City parking facilities or on-street parking. These efforts include developing parking management plans, overseeing public parking structures and lots, and ensuring effective parking enforcement. For more information, visit the provided links to contact Parking Enforcement, review the Parking Management Plan, and learn about Residential Parking Permits (RPP), including details about current zones and the ongoing project to reevaluate them.
Residential Parking Program
The City of San Fernando is currently reevaluating and refining its Residential Parking Permit (RPP) Program to better address parking needs in residential areas.
Last year, we conducted the first phase of this effort, which included community engagement, data collection, and an internal needs assessment with City staff. As part of this process, City staff and consultants met with residents to share information about the RPP program and to discuss challenges with the existing program and parking concerns across the City.
Based on the valuable feedback gathered from those meetings and surveys, City staff and consultants have developed draft recommendations to improve the RPP program. We are now preparing for the second phase of community engagement to present these draft recommendations and gather additional input from residents.
It is important to note that these are draft recommendations, not finalized plans. This second round of engagement is critical for ensuring that the final recommendations reflect the diverse needs of our community. Your participation and feedback are essential in shaping a program that works for everyone.
To join the upcoming community meetings—whether in person or virtually—please find the meeting details below. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and continuing this collaborative effort.

Frequently Asked Questions
What should I do if I am hosting a large gathering?
If you are hosting a large gathering you will need to contact the Public Works Department at (818-898-1222 or PublicWorks@sfcity.org) to obtain an Encroachment Permit. You will be charged per each parking stall that will be used as part of the event. Please do so at least 7 to 10 business days in advance in order for proper posting of parking restrictions signs.
My vehicle registration doesn't have my address. / I just moved. / I purchased a new or used car.
The address on your vehicle registration must match the address for which the permit is being issued. Failure to provide the correct information may result in a parking citation. Be sure to update your vehicle registration promptly to avoid any issues.
What do I do if my vehicle is a company vehicle and is not registered in my name or address?
If your vehicle is a company vehicle and is not registered in your name or address, we recommend parking it in your driveway or garage. Alternatively, you may obtain a permit for one of your personal vehicles or park the company vehicle outside the permit district boundary. Please note that failure to comply may result in a parking citation.
I sold/ traded/ donated/ totaled the vehicle associated with my permit. Do I need to apply for another permit or can I receive a replacement permit for my new vehicle?
If you have sold, traded, donated, or totaled your permitted vehicle, you can obtain a new permit for the replacement vehicle. The previously issued permit will be canceled, and anyone using the canceled permit may receive a citation.
My neighbor constantly parks their car in front of my house. Is this a violation?
If your neighbor has a valid residential parking permit displayed on their windshield, this is not a violation. A valid residential parking permit allows the holder to park anywhere within the designated permit zone. However, if your neighbor does not have a valid permit or is blocking your driveway, these actions constitute a violation and may result in enforcement action.
How do I contact Parking Enforcement?
